The project of the Scientific and Technological Park of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies involves the construction of 7 buildings for laboratories, research, offices, auditoriums and university services immersed in open spaces, sports areas and a cycle path. The masterplan is developed in two phases: in the first, 4 buildings will be built, the technical center and a central square, with lamination basins and a storage tank. In the second phase, two basins will be filled to build another 3 buildings, while the remaining basins and underground tanks will host recreational-sports activities and events.

The peculiarities of the suburban landscape of Pisa – canals, mountains, countryside and rows – form the backdrop to the Scientific and Technological Park of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
The integration between buildings and the environment creates a continuous fabric respecting the agricultural memory of the area. The masterplan reinterprets the local landscape by influencing the functional areas of the site. The Park will have urban areas for squares and aggregation and natural areas for environmental and recreational functions. The campus, surrounded by a perimeter road, includes shaded parking, an integrated cycle path and a central square for events.

The buildings are rotated with respect to the main layout line in order to open the view from inside the walkway to the outside, establishing a strong visual relationship between the project and its landscape context. The rotation of the buildings was designed to strengthen the visual connection with the nearby Pisan mountains, creating a direct relationship between visitors to the technology park and the surrounding landscape.
